No, ConservativeBrand is not all about politics, all the time. Yesterday there was an opportunity to sample a breath of fresh air that is floating above the Chicago Symphony this year – composer-in-residence, Jason Bates. And the fresh air is not just about his early work, Rusty Air in Carolina, although there is a lot of love (at least every 17 years in Chicago) for the hum of cicadas on a hot summer day.

Jason Bates is expanding the palette of symphonic music over at Orchestra Hall with Maestro Riccardo Muti. During an exploratory visit to the FermiLab, he captured sounds of the particle accelerator for the second movement of his new symphony, Alternative Energy. Here’s a taste:
