It was kind of disappointing to see Republican Congressman (and Iraq war veteran) Adam Kinzinger on Meet the Press this morning, flogging the establishment position for Obama’s intervention in the Syrian Civil War. The arguments are familiar, but his job as GOP team spokesman is a little more curious. House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor have been out there with the president all along. But House Whip Kevin McCarthy and Chief Deputy Whip Peter Roskam, the rest of the Republican House leadership, are holding off announcing their votes.
Could it be that Kinzinger is looking for a slot on the GOP team if one of the Whips goes so far as to vote NO, against the leaders?
